Understanding Site Grading: Considerations that Can Impact Your Project’s Bottom Line

Course Description

This seminar offers an overview of how engineers and architects perform site grading and clarifies how site constraints, design regulations, and other considerations can have an impact on the grading design and the project’s budget.

Learning objectives

  1. This course explains the design methods to reduce earthwork activities which in turn can affect the placement of the buildings on site. Through proper grading analysis and design, a building’s visibility can be maximized and the building can be placed at the least intrusive location to adjacent property owners and the surrounding environment. Proper grading assists in providing a solid foundation for building construction.
  2. Teach architects and the design team how CADD and artificial intelligence can be applied to site grading in order to optimize the design and minimize construction costs.
  3. This course gives instructions on how to properly grade the project site to avoid flooding and provide proper access for emergency vehicles. In addition, this course teaches about the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the proper way to design a site to meet the ADA requirements.
  4. This course talks about ADA site grading requirements and the proper grading designs for pedestrian access to the buildings on site. In addition, proper grading methods can create the desired appearance for landscaping features.
