Creating Sustainable Spaces with Fiber Optic Daylighting

Course Description

With most people spending most their time indoors, access to natural light is not only a hallmark of sustainable design, it also defines today’s most valuable real estate. Fiber optic daylighting systems can help ensure that all occupants enjoy the unique benefits provided by natural daylight. Examples of these benefits include improved health, productivity, and comfort. Fiber optic daylighting is an ideal solution for those tasked with getting full-spectrum daylight deep into buildings, as far down as 30 meters. Fiber optic daylighting is used in residential, office, commercial, health care, educational, manufacturing settings, to name a few. There is a wide assortment of fiber optic daylighting options including point, shaft and wall lighting. These flexible, modular options give architects limitless opportunities to bring daylighting to nearly any space.

  2. Explain the history and current uses of fiber optic technology
  3. Understand how fiber optic technology is used in daylighting systems to bring natural light deep into tall buildings
