Join us for a construction tour of a new museum building designed by Thomas Phifer and Partners together with a new landscape design by PWP Landscape Architecture, that will open to the public in spring 2018, quadrupling Glenstone’s size.

The new 170,000 sf building will provide 50,000 sf of gallery space, incorporate a central water garden, a library, offices and open art storage facilities. An arrival building and a café are integrated within walking paths, bridges, more than 6,000 new trees, 30 acres of sustainable meadow, and over 4,000 water lilies, irises and rushes.

Learning objectives:

  1. Identify strategies for integrating architecture, landscape architecture, and art into a seamless user experience.
  2. Understand the added complications, including cost and schedule impacts, of detailing and executing a world-class work of minimalist architecture.
  3. Sense and describe how varying daylighting strategies affect human reactions including psychological state and stress levels.
  4. Explain how an architect’s role can not only fulfill a client’s program but expand their role and presence in the community and impact the character of the institution.

Tour is limited to 30 attendees.
