Last Wednesday Lunch & Learns - Live Webinars with Torti Gallas + Partners

 Directions

Live Webinar with Torti Gallas + Partners

AIAPV has partnered with Torti Gallas + Partners to offer live webinars of the firm's Lunch & Learn CEU events on the last Wednesday of each month. The number of webinar seats is limited to 20 per event. AIA credits will be reported by the presenting vendors. This is a member benefit open to AIAPV chapter members initially. Should seats become available, registration will be available to non-AIAPV chapter members three (3) days prior to the webinar. Registration through AIAPV is $5 for members and $10 for non-members. Registrants will receive the Go To Meeting log in credentials the day before the webinar.

AIAPV appreciates Torti Gallas' support in enabling the chapter to provide this valuable benefit for the convenience of members unable to get to our educational events in person.

LAST WEDNESDAY Lunch & Learn

Controlling Sound Transmission in Multifamily, Healthcare, and Educational Environments

Course Description

This Course will explain how acoustics play a vital role in every building environment. It will review the two primary areas of architectural acoustics – interior room acoustics and sound transmission – that control both air-borne and structure-born sound transmission. It will also explain what designers need to know to understand the existing standards for evaluating the acoustical properties of building assemblies and materials.

1 AIA LU/HSW; 1 GBCI CE self-report credit

Learning objectives

  1. Review two primary areas of architectural acoustics – interior room acoustics and sound transmission – that control both sir-bore and structure-borne sound transmission.
  2. Explain what designers need to know to understand the existing standards for evaluating the acoustical properties of building assemblies and materials.
  3. Clarify how the acoustic characteristics of building assemblies are rated.
  4. Describe how flooring systems can affect interior room acoustics and sound transmission in a building.
  5. Suggest strategies for solving acoustic issues in multifamily buildings, healthcare facilities, and classroom environments.
