 Directions

Live Webinar with Grimm + Parker

AIAPV has partnered with Grimm + Parker Architects to offer live webinars of the firm's Lunch & Learn CEU events on the first Tuesday of each month. The number of webinar seats is limited to 12 per event, but could be expanded if there is sufficient demand. AIA credits will be reported by the presenting vendors. This is a member benefit open to AIAPV chapter members initially. Should seats become available, registration will be available to non-AIAPV chapter members three (3) days prior to the webinar. Registration through AIAPV is $5 for members and $10 for non-members. Registrants will receive the WebEx log in credentials the day before the webinar.

AIAPV appreciates Grimm + Parker's support in enabling the chapter to provide this valuable benefit for the convenience of members unable to get to our educational events in person.

First Tuesday Lunch & Learn

AV & IT Connectivity in Ceilings, Walls, Floors and Tables

Course Description

Today’s designs demand a variety of communications and multi-media capabilities; this course will guide architects, engineers and interior designers through the convergence of technology with building design. Audiovisual applications in various spaces will be covered, and the connectivity requirements associated with them will be discussed. AV, along with IT technologies impact the structure, and housing the connectivity components of these technologies in ceilings, walls and floors will be featured. A variety of ceiling, wall and floor boxes as cable management will be discussed. The different features of these boxes will be covered, as well as UL requirements, electrical issues, the merging of technology and aesthetics, and developments in connectivity will also be presented. Various connectivity and cable management solutions within tables and other furniture will be covered. Different types of infrastructure components will also be discussed.

The impact of audiovisual systems on sustainable design will be presented. The practice of Building Information Modeling will be featured to highlight areas where AV products can benefit within the BIM model. Clash detection for cable pathway routing is one example of how BIM can impact AV technologies. Areas where AV can promote the health, safety, welfare and productivity of building occupants will also be discussed. The program will relate to designs of the interiors of educational facilities, hotels, churches, boardrooms, workspaces and general meeting rooms. The importance of working with AV consultants will also be discussed.
