AIAPV has partnered with Grimm + Parker Architects to offer live webinars of the firm's Lunch & Learn CEU events on the first Tuesday of each month. Initially, the number of webinar seats will be limited to 10 per event, but could be expanded if there is sufficient demand. AIA credits will be reported by the presenting vendors. This is a member benefit open to AIAPV chapter members only and is a webinar-only offering. Registration through AIAPV is $5. Registrants will receive the WebEx log in credentials the day before the webinar. 

AIAPV appreciates Grimm + Parker's support in enabling the chapter to provide this valuable benefit that allows members to gain CEUs during lunchtime from the convenience of their own offices.

Automated Vehicular Gate Design for Safety Standard Compliance

Course Description

The purpose of this course is to train design professionals on safety related design and installation methods for automated vehicular gates to insure that their designs are in compliance with current industry safety standards and the IBC, IFC, IRC and IPMC. These safety standards include the UL 325 Standard for Safety for Door, Drapery, Gate, Louver, and Window Operators and Systems, and the ASTM F2200 Standard Specification for Automated Vehicular Gate Construction.

Learning objectives

After completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Have an understanding safety standards that detail design and construction criteria for automated vehicular gates.
  2. Know the requirements for automated vehicular slide gates and how to design slide gates to be in compliance with the safety standards.
  3. Know the requirements for automated vehicular swing gates and how to design swing gates to be in compliance with the safety standards.
  4. Know the requirements for automated parking gates and how to design parking gates to be in compliance with the safety standards.
