Well-established architectural designers from all three chapters of the Capital Area Custom Residential Architects Network bring experience “from the field” to an in-depth discussion about the pros and cons of architects working as, or working with, design-builders. Whether you’re working already as a residential design-builder or wondering whether this route is for you, or you’re just curious about why some architects choose the design-build model, this program will shed light on the topic.  Come and be part of the discussion – or just come to be enlightened. 1.5 LU

Panelists:

Jonathan Kuhn, AIA, LEED AP

Francisca Villaroel Alonso, Assoc. AIA, CEO
Antonio Alonso, AIA

  • Hear architects who have chosen the design-build route for their practices and discuss the reasons they chose this path.
  • Analyze the pros and cons of the architect performing as both designer and builder.
  • Analyze the pros and cons of the architect working as an employee of the builder.
  • Analyze the pros and cons of the architect performing as an exclusive designer for a builder.
  • Evaluate the idea that there should be more architects working as design-builders to elevate the quality of homes produced by the design-build sector.
